Tree Removal
We posted earlier in the Spring about how we had a pine beetle problem at Sumatanga and had to take down some trees to avoid losing more forest. We’ve started the process of removing trees on the eastern edge of camp as you approach going west on Sumatanga Road. We do our best to manage the over-1400 acre property, but these things are difficult to predict.
Another form of tree removal done recently was on Chandler Mountain, which cleared up the view from the Cross, Creel Chapel, and Inspiration Point. We are very thankful to the group of volunteers who came recently to clear up these spots for us!

Sumatanga Summer Camps
Our summer camps were absolutely incredible this year! This was our biggest summer in 5+ years, serving 40% more campers than in 2024! Sumatanga has a long history of summer camp ministry and it’s something we love and look forward to every year. We’ve already begun planning for Summer 2026, so mark your calendars for November 1 to register. Dates are available on our website and social media.
We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our Camp Ministers, volunteers, seasonal staff, and our of course the campers and their families! And of course, a huge shoutout to our year-round staff who are always making sure meals are delicious and nutritious, our spaces are clean and ready for guests, and when things break (or the power goes out!) they are there to help. We could not have done this without you!
