SUMMER PROGRAM STAFF POSITIONS

Serving at Sumatanga can be life-changing! We welcome energetic, spiritually mature individuals to apply to serve in our summer camp program. Whether you desire to be a part of our paid summer staff team or you are looking to volunteer some time during a particular week of camp, we hope you’re ready for a time of discipleship, growth, and adventure! All applicants must supply references and submit to a background check.

Summer Staff Details

The role of “Summer Staff” is to be the behind-the-scenes workers making sure camp is running smoothly. The two outward facing responsibilities are lifeguarding and belaying. When activities are not being run, it is their responsibility to assist in the kitchen with serving and cleaning, go around camp emptying trash cans and restocking supplies, and being on hand for odd jobs. Summer staff sleep away from the campers and volunteers giving them some free time in the evenings and when tasks have been completed.

Counselor Details

Counselors are directly responsible for the safety, wellbeing, and supervision of campers. Our counselors deal directly with each camper more than any other staff, and therefore have the responsibility and opportunity to teach campers beyond curriculum how to live out a modern Christian lifestyle. Counselors are expected to participate in all activities, sessions, and group gatherings alongside their campers. You can think of yourself as an older mentor to the campers under your care during a week of camp.

Volunteer Counselor Details

Very similar to our staff counselors, our volunteer counselors act as weekly mentors, guides, and supervision to our campers during a week of camp. Volunteer counselors can commit for a week at a time from Saturday to Friday of the week of camp they are apart of and are welcome to volunteer for multiple camps

CIT Details

Our CIT or Counselor-in-Training Program is a program open to High School Junior and Seniors who would like to volunteer with us to come alongside our Staff Counselors to co-lead small groups during Elementary Camps. They will get to experience what it is like to work in ministry by planning and running worship programs, co-leading small groups, and being a mentor to younger campers.
